Disciplinary literacy is essential for helping students engage with scientific concepts in a meaningful way. This session will provide educators with research-based strategies to enhance reading, writing, and communication in the science classroom, equipping students with the skills they need to think and communicate like scientists. Participants will explore the role of disciplinary literacy in inquiry-based learning and gain hands-on experience with strategies that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and sense-making. Through interactive discussions and practical examples, attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of how disciplinary literacy supports scientific proficiency and a toolkit of strategies to implement immediately in their classrooms.
