Hospitals are like mini cities with job opportunities going way beyond doctors and nurses. This session will explore the workforce, human, and economic impact of hospitals in SC. Speakers will highlight the wide variety of healthcare careers available in various settings. The session will cover the results of a recent labor market assessment including: the largest and fastest-growing healthcare occupations, occupations with highest projected demand, and potential occupational shortages. Speakers will share SCHA and statewide educational resources that can be used in classrooms, by parents, by students, by educators, and those considering a second career, to better understand healthcare careers and pathways. Speakers will also provide examples of how hospitals are working directly with high schools and higher education to provide work-based learning opportunities and fill the healthcare pipeline.
